Doug Whitney has spent more than two decades in the turbine business. He began his career as a field engineer, soon advancing to become a Supervisor and Manager for General Electric Installation and Service Engineering.
A short tenure working for a small turbine repair service organization led to a senior engineering position with the Westinghouse, Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, responsible for a fleet of Naval Nuclear prototype plants.
Mr. Whitney went on to become principal engineer for Florida Power and Light responsible for the FPL fleet of turbine generators.
Mr. Whitney was one of the founding partners in the formation of Power Systems Mfg. (PSM), manufacturing gas turbine combustion systems and blades/buckets and systems. PSM was sold to Calpine Corporation for approximately $43 million USD in 2000.
As the founding member of Turbine & amp; Power Plant Solutions, Inc. (TAPPS). Mr. Whitney continues to head TAPPS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trans World Power, which is a supplier of gas turbine parts and combustion turbine generators.
